Walmart CEO Reaffirms $10 Billion Annual Sourcing Goal from India, Praises Growth and Innovation
Walmart Global President and CEO Doug McMillon on Tuesday (June 24, 2025) reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sourcing $10 billion annually from India, highlighting the country’s exceptional economic growth. Speaking at an event in New Delhi that showcased Walmart’s operations in India, McMillon noted that few large economies are expanding as rapidly as India and praised the opportunities it presents.
He emphasized Walmart’s long-term commitment to the Indian market and noted how repeated visits have given him a deeper understanding of India’s dynamic and evolving business landscape.
“When we started, we were sourcing limited categories from India. Now, we’re aiming for $10 billion a year—a significant milestone we’re working toward with our supplier community,” he said.
McMillon also lauded Walmart’s Indian acquisitions, Flipkart and PhonePe, calling their growth “inspiring.” He noted that the company is learning a great deal from these ventures, particularly their ability to innovate, scale quickly, empower sellers, and serve a growing customer base.
“These businesses are helping shape the future of e-commerce in India, and they present a bright future with the potential to create widespread opportunity,” he said.
